Monday, July 13, 2009, Milwaukee Journal quotes parade cochair, Bill Fox, as saying, "A historic day for Milwaukee and Wisconsin. This is as good a parade as we have ever had. If this is the last parade, it's a triumphant one".

I hope this was not the last parade. I agree this is a historic day for Milwaukee and Wisconsin. I do disagree, however, that this is as good a parade as we've ever had. If you go back in time, I have seen most of the circus parades including the first one in 1963. I realize cost is a big factor in putting the parade on. Instead of trying to host a parade every year, if a parade were held every three years, five years, or whatever the right number may be, then sufficient resources could be accumulated and parade would be a successful one.

Where I disagree on this parade being as good as any one we've ever had, would be the lack of outstanding marching bands. Example, in past parades, Philadelphia Mummers, New England Drum & Fife Corp, and full-fledged military bands have performed. Also, have had many outstanding high school bands perform. Noticed this year a number of the high school bands were only a token of the full band.

Thank you for staging this fine event. Would appreciate your comments.

Thank you!
